hello!
if you are reading this, then the chances are that you are a fine family member or a good friend or colleague of ours. if you are neither of these, then hello to you too, and welcome to our (no-doubt rather amateurish) first blog.
we'll be updating this as and when we get the opportunity with photos and tales of our months ahead in India. at the time of writing, we are still in the wilds of Peckham, attempting to heroically re-re-pack our meagre 35 litre bags and wondering once again whether or not we should have decided to go for the 'no clutter, travelling lightest' option. factoring in the colossal yardage of textiles that Philippa will be purchasing, we'll need our own silk-wallah to carry it all around for us.
the blog's title is 'Raj-ing it,' and not 'Raging Git' spelled wrong, in case you were wondering. we're planning to spend the majority of our time in India in the North West state of Rajasthan, although we are landing in Delhi late on the evening of Tuesday 1st April. we have a vast acreage of expectations and excitement and, apart from being hotter and more humid, few if any preconceptions (we hope). we're going into this trip with all the enthusiasm of the guys who built Stonehenge, except without the slave labour; we don't know what it will look like when it's finished, but we're ultra-keen to see it through to its construction.
about the only thing of which we are both sure of is the fact that we have the time not to rush anything, and will be progressing accordingly, which chimes nicely with what we have heard from good friends who have gone to India previously about the speed at which life in this ancient nation flows. as London-dwellers, the pace and frustration of city life here is something we'd like a break from, and Edd in particular will be doing my best not to bring any of London with me.
we don't know how often we will be / able to put up new posts, but we're hoping to do so regularly, as well as upload some of our pictures as we go, ideally. if anyone does post replies of questions up for us, we will do our best to respond, but obviously don't know how often we will be able to do that.
catch you again soon. take care until then,
Edward and Philippa (Edd & Phil) {:-)
